A hat-trick by Lewis Riley-Phoenix enabled high-flying HUCKNALL HARRIER UNDER-14S YELLOW to claim a notable scalp in the Young Elizabethan League.

Harrier, who are top of the Saturday Third Division, took on Basford United A, from the Second Division in one of the league’s competitive winter friendlies. And with the help of Riley-Phoenix’s treble, plus goals from Liam Cartledge and Ras Burrows, they strode to an impressive 5-0 victory.

Meanwhile, in the Sunday section of the league, ROLLS-ROYCE LEISURE UNDER-12S strode into the next round of the cup thanks to a 3-0 victory away to Pegasus Youth, who play a division below them. After a goalless first half, Rolls struck with two goals from Carnell Lester and one from Daniel Hary, plus star performances by Benjamin Davies and Harley Shooter.

However, BULWELL FOREST UNDER-11S bowed out of the Sunday Cup after losing 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller away to Cotgrave. Callam Garner-Henry (2) and Jay Lord were on target for Bulwell, but they couldn’t handle hitman Riley Phillips, who scored all four of Cotgrave’s goals.
