High five for unbeaten Dowhan

AFC Dowhan produced a fine second half performance against Lenton Villa — with Chris Fletcher hitting a 15-minute hat-trick — to make it five wins from five matches in the Notts Sunday League with a 7-1 victory.

The one highlight in a poor first half was Dowhan’s opening goal, winger Jonny Bernard cutting in to hit a dipping 25-yard shot into the top corner.

The visitors equalised when a Greg Conn back pass hit a divot and looped over keeper Gary Hickman’s foot.

Dowhan regained the lead on half-time as Ash Foster poked in after a goalmouth scramble.

Following Fletcher’s treble a fine goalline clearance by Aaron Cotterill denied Lenton a second goal.

Foster made it 6-1 from the penalty spot after captain Stef Rogers was fouled. Greg Conn completed the scoring after a surging run.
