An air-conditioning company helped a youth football team in Hucknall put the wind up the sails of their opponents and breeze to a 17-0 victory!

HUCKNALL SPORTS UNDER-16S had just clinched a sponsorship deal for new training tops with Jo and Martin Eastwood, of Belmar Services Ltd, who are based at Annesley Road, Hucknall.

And they celebrated by demolishing strugglers Sherwood Youth in the Second Round of the Notts FA Saturday County Youth Shield at the Goosedale Sports Complex in Bestwood Village.

Jarrod Davies helped himself to six of the goals as Sports netted eight in the first half and nine in the second against a Sherwood side who deserved credit for battling away against all the odds.

Tom Eastwood opened the floodgates when looping a shot over the advancing ‘keeper and after James Hallam had doubled the lead, Davies collected the first five of his double hat-trick.

In the second half, Sports could afford to make several changes. But still the goals kept flowing, with Eastwood and Davies netting again and Adey Lang (2), Danny Darlow, Kieran Worthington, Charlie Blatherwick and Ryan Towle all making the scoresheet. There were also two own goals.

Special mention must go too to a couple of players who didn’t score. Skipper James Stenson led by example to take the man-of-the-match award, showing a terrfific professional attitude and respect for the opposition. And Keaton Sharpe played in virtually every position during the game, including goalkeeper. Try as they might, his teammates just couldn’t tee up a goal for Sharpe!

A HAT-trick by Mitchuall Cox helped BULWELL ATHLETIC UNDER-14S beat Burton Joyce 4-1 in the Notts FA Saturday County Youth Shield. James Abbott bagged the other goal, and Dylan Humphrey was man-of-the-match.
