A late equaliser by Androulla Kokkinou spared the blushes of Linby-based NOTTS COUNTY LADIES DEVELOPMENT in Division One North of the East Midlands Women’s League.
Taking on Mansfield Hosiery Mills, whom they had beaten 3-2 in the Notts FA Women’s County Cup seven days earlier, County trailed 2-1 with just three minutes left.
But then Anna Horton drove forward and released Kokkinou, who twisted and turned past several players before firing into the bottom corner to force a 2-2 draw.
Earlier Hosiery Mills had stunned the locals by easing into a two-goal lead in the first half-hour, courtesy of Amy Jones and Tiffany Musgrove.
But in a scrappy game, County pulled one back just before the interval when a lofted cross-cum-shot to the back post by Jasmin Bear was helped over the line by Courtney Walters.
In the second half, the much-improved visitors camped in Hosiery Mills’s half for long periods. But the home side defended well and would have snatched a killer third goal but for a reaction save by County ‘keeper Kelly Hackman.
RAMPANT NOTTS COUNTY LADIES DEVELOPMENT RESERVES showed no mercy on bottom-of-the-table Aspley Park Ladies in the Notts Ladies League.
With Cath Eyley netting her third hat-trick of the season, County surged to a 10-0 win against their spirited visitors, who could field only ten players. Eyley also set up the first goal for Jade Sheppard and after opening her own account, she popped up again to supply Katrina Bloomer for number three.
Ashleigh Harris rounded off the first half by blasting in at the near post. And the second half started with a screamer from Eyley, who then completed her treble from a Sammie Barlow pass.
Next, Eyley crossed for Ellie Marriott to score with a looping header and it wasn’t long before player-of-the-match Rhiannon Middleton was teeing up Bloomer’s second.
Carolanne Young made it 9-0 and double figures was reached when Charley MacLaren gave her dad the perfect birthday present with a header from a corner.
