Holders LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES are on course for a second Notts Senior League, Junior Cup triumph after marching into the semi-finals.

A resounding 4-1 victory over First Division rivals, Ruddington Village Reserves, did the trick, even though they trailed to a goal from Jordan Richardson only eight minutes in.

In-form veteran Daz Dickens equalised on 29, chesting in a rebound when Ant Wallis’s cross struck the far post. And after a scare at the other end, where new signing Morgan Whitehurst cleared off the line, it was 2-1 as top scorer Luke Price curled a 20-yard free-kick into the bottom corner.

Seven minutes into the second half, Whitehurst’s searching free-kick picked out Ross Cheeseman, who drove home a stunning volley. And the tie was wrapped up by Linby as early as the hour mark when a through-ball by Aaron Potter found man-of-the-match Price, who was brought down but got up to convert the resulting spot-kick.

Also through to the last four are fellow Division One outfit Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, plus Division Two duo Ashland Rovers Reserves and Keyworth United Reserves.
