Contrasting fortunes awaited junior league cup finalists LINBY COLLIERY RESERVES in their latest two matches in the Notts Senior League’s First Division.
Last Saturday, Linby beat Ruddington Village Reserves 3-1. But on Tuesday night, two goals in the last couple of minutes sentenced a much-changed side to an unjust 4-2 defeat away to South Normanton AFC Reserves.
After Ross Cheeseman had headed in Kaylum Mitchell’s corner to give Linby the lead against Rudd, Sam Dunstan not only equalised but also hit a post. Linby were indebted to a string of smart saves by man-of-the-match Glenn Guyatt too, but they won thanks to a header on 55 minutes by first-teamer Joe Butler and a volley in the last minute by Jonny Bernard.
Linby were two down in the first half-hour against Normanton before Matt Peberday and Ash Winfield hauled them level and Kurt Savage had a shot cleared off the line.
