Mansfield Town ladies’ team will be officially launched under the umbrella of Mansfield Town Football Club this Sunday as part of their first Open Day at the club, signalling an exciting new era for women’s football in North Nottinghamshire. Like the Stags’ men’s team, who won the Conference Premier title last term, Mansfield ladies were also title-winners as they cruised to the East Midlands Premier Division title.
On Sunday, as part of an action-packed launch day, the Stags’ ladies, who will be now be headed by chairman Carolyn Radford (the Stags’ chief executive), will go head-to-head with Derby County in a five-a-side match at One Call Stadium.
Supporters can get their first glimpse of the team at 11am, when the main gate, (in between the Ian Greaves Stand and Quarry Lane End) will be open.
Mansfield ladies will show off their football skills and take part in fun-filled boxer-size sessions prior to their five-a-side duel with The Rams.
Their theme tune will also be exclusively revealed as they prepare for their first campaign in the third tier - just two levels below the Women’s Super League.
Afterwards, fans have a perfect opportunity to meet the ladies for the first time, as they will be in the Sandy Pate Bar to chat and sign autographs.
