Adam Murray says he has secured the core of last season’s Mansfield Town squad, after the club revealed its retained list.

New deals have been offered to Matty Blair, Chris Clements, Reggie Lambe and Ryan Tafazolli.

Scott Shearer, Corbin Shires and Adi Yussuf all had options of re-engagement activated in their contracts.

While Chris Beardsley, Anthony Dwyer, Liam Marsden and Craig Westcarr have been released.

Loans Daniel Alfei, Colin Daniel, Emmanuel Dieseruvwe and Sean Kavanagh have returned to their parent clubs.

Tyler Blake, Adam Bishop, Louis Danquah and Joe Fitzpatrick have been offered under-21s deals.

Stags boss Murray said: “We fully understand that we’re dealing with people’s lives and futures so it was important that conducted our business in a proper and professional manner.

“We’ve managed to secure the core of the squad from last season.

“The 12 months that these boys have already had together will be worth its weight in gold, so to get the majority of them re-signed is a massive bonus. It allows our planning to be more specific and structured.

“We’re looking to add a little extra (quality) now to take us to the next level because we want to progress again.”

Players under contract already for 2016/17 season are James Baxendale, Mal Benning, Adam Chapman, Lee Collins, Matt Green, Brian Jensen, Jason Law, Jamie McGuire, Krystian Pearce, Mitchell Rose and Jack Thomas.
