Unbeaten Abu Dhabi took another giant stride towards a second successive HUCKNALL SIX-A-SIDE LEAGUE title at the National Academy on Monday night.
For not only did they stretch their record to 17 games without defeat, they also benefited from a rare setback for their closest pursuers, second-placed Naughty America.
The Naughty boys went down 5-2 to fourth-placed Team 316, for whom Daz Scrimshaw collected his eighth man-of-the-match trophy of the campaign. And Abu Dhabi duly cashed in by hammering Heaton Sports 8-1 to extend their lead at the top to five points with just five matches to play.
Elsewhere Baywatch Babes are hanging on to third place after a convincing 6-1 defeat of KFC, courtesy of a flurry of late goals and a man-of-the-match showing from Michael South.
At the bottom, the resurgence of Murder On Zidane’s Floor, the only team to take a point off Abu Dhabi, was halted by a 5-2 reverse at the hands of Asian Persuasion, whose star man on the night was Joe Mee. The Murderers remain a point behind The Hornets, who collapsed to a 10-0 defeat against Warriors, and Wa1tz D1sn3y, who picked up a valuable point in a 1-1 draw against The Groomsmen with the help of a man-of-the-match performance by Jack Jayes.
