Stags have turned down a bid by Conference neighbours Lincoln City to take defender Lee Beevers back to Sincil Bank.

Beevers played 166 games for the Imps between 2004-09 and is out of favour at Mansfield right now.

However, manager Adam Murray said: “They enquired about him but he isn’t going.

“Lee is a good player. He isn’t in our group at the moment, but he has trained as he has always done like a proper professional and he is someone I still see as part of our plans for the last 19 games.

“Sometimes you have to look for different cycles of a season. We are now coming up against opposition that will be battles rather than football matches.

“Pitches are turning and going boggy and bobbly. Then they start turning into concrete again.

“It is important to have different individuals for different periods. It’s horses for courses.”
