The Nottinghamshire FA have announced that on Thursday, 30th April 2015, the prestigious Notts FA Senior Cup final will be contested at Mansfield Town’s One Call Stadium.
One of the oldest club competitions in the country dating back to the late 1800s, it has long been one of the greatest accolades for Nottinghamshire football clubs.
A gleaming silver masterpiece, covered in the names of Nottinghamshire’s finest football clubs will proudly be on show for the final participating clubs to claim.
Jamie Thompson, marketing and communications officer for the Nottinghamshire FA, visited Mansfield Town and first team manager Paul Cox, to officially announce the news.
Cox won the Senior Cup an impressive six times during his stay with Eastwood Town and is well accustomed to Nottinghamshire’s greatest knock-out competition.
Cox said: “I think it’s excellent news, the last time I won the Cup as Manager at Eastwood Town FC we played at The One Call Stadium, and it’s only right that the final returns to a professional ground because it’s a competition that I really do hold in high regard.
“I managed to win it six times during my stay at Eastwood which was brilliant, and I think the best one of those was at Notts County where we played a very strong Hucknall Town side, who were running away with promotion at the time.
“We actually came from behind to win 2-1 and being the underdogs going into that game made it one of the best for me.”
The Nottinghamshire FA will be using the showpiece final as a festival of football with various activities and youth competitions will be held prior to the big kick-off.
Information on how to be involved in the programme will be released in due course along with ticket information.
