A hat-trick for the second Saturday on the trot by striker Luke Price fired resurgent LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES up to fourth in the Notts Senior League, First Division table.
Price scored all the goals as Linby beat bottom team Awsworth Villa Reserves 3-2 to move on to the coat-tails of local-derby rivbals, Hucknall Rolls Leisure Reserves, in the table.
Awsworth, who haven’t picked up a single point this term, were better than their league position suggests, although they did include first-teamers in their line-up. And after Price had given Linby a 13th minute lead with a brilliant turn and shot on the edge of the box, the visitors hit back to lead 2-1 by the break thanks to a Mitch Scott header and a 25-yard free-kick from winger Luke Davis.
However, Linby came out for the second half with more zip in their play, and Price not only broke clear to equalise on 63 minutes but also bagged the winner, rolling a rebound into an empty net after his initial shot had been parried by the ‘keeper.
