Still building up towards their second successive cup final, LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES picked up a couple of excellent away points in the Notts Senior League’s First Division.

In midweek, Linby held Wollaton Reserves to a hard-fought 2-2 draw. Goals by Chaz Niblett and Luke Price gave them a 2-1 lead before Ant Fragola’s equaliser pegged them back.

And last Saturday, they improved even on that by holding title favourites Underwood Villa 1-1. Steve Smith gave the home team the lead before Price netted his 35th goal of the season.

There was not such good news in the same division for HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES, who plunged to a 5-1 defeat away to Netherfield Albion. Danny Tring was on the scoresheet, but The Rollers’ frail defence was exposed again in a setback that dropped them below Linby in the table.
