Referees in the Hucknall and Bulwell area, and across Nottinghamshire, have teamed up with the successful Want 2 Play League, which provides playing opportunities for disabled footballers.

The Want 2 Play programme was set up to support young disabled players across three age groups -- six-to-ten, 11-to-16 and 16-plus, with fixtures taking place once a month at various locations around the county.

To raise the profile of the league and to provide a better-quality matchday experience, the league has set up a partnership with Notts FA’s Referees Development Group.

After a special training evening, which focused on the scenarios they were likely to encounter, six referees were chosen to officiate at the Want 2 Play matches. League secretary Roger Parkes said: “They were fantastic! They made the whole day look more professional.”
