Free-flowing HUCKNALL TOWN hit Doncaster visitors Brodsworth Welfare for six to cruise into the Third Round of the Central Midlands League Cup.

Before the tie, fans were a shade concerned because Town were without five of the side that had battered Bulwell the previous week. But all fears were quickly laid to rest as The Yellows ran riot for a 6-0 success that would have reached double figures without some tremendous saves by the Brodsworth ‘keeper.

They had to wait until the 30th minute to open the scoring -- James Rigg smashing home a rebound after his initial header, from a lovely cross by youngster Josh Rafferty, had been foiled by a terrific reflex stop.

And there were 50 minutes on the clock before the second goal as recalled full-back Jkosh Henry bravely put his head on another Rafferty cross.

However, from then on, The Yellows made their dominance count against a Brodsworth side sitting just below halfway in the league’s North Division. Henry doubled his tally with a shot and then came another brace from substitute Matt Clowes, sandwiching a strike by frontman Aaron Evans.

Evans also hit the bar, while Leon Aikman, Elliott Pitt and Cameron Davidson also went close in a late onslaught.

Brodsworth got so desperate that they sent their goalie out to play in midfield for the last half-hour. But there was no way past his opposite number James Beddingham, who kept a clean sheet with the hel;p of impressive centre-backs Cayne Maxwell and Joe Atkinson.
