A Football Disciplinary Commission has fined Mansfield Town £6,000 for fielding an unregistered player (Reggie Lambe) in the club’s League Two match against Exeter City on 17th January, which Stags lost 3-2.

The FDC ruled that £4,500 of that sum should be suspended for a period of 12 months with Mansfield Town also being ordered to pay the costs of the commission.

A club spokesman said: “The club believes that we had a fair hearing by the Football Disciplinary Committee and the outcome reflects an honest administrative mistake made in mitigating circumstances.

“The club will not be appealing the decision and now considers the matter closed. No further comment will be made by the club.”
