Gallant HUCKNALL WARRIORS’ senior side hit back from 2-0 and 5-3 down to snatch a draw in a ten-goal cracker against top-of-the-table AFC Freeman and Mitchell in the Third Division of the EMPAL Sunday League.
Warriors trailed at the interval to goals in the 25th and 30th minutes that owed a lot to poor marking. But they issued a warning when Macauley Spencer’s free-kick rebounded off the angle of bar and post, and they were soon level at the start of the second period. Tom Hall netted from an acute angle and Liam Burley pounced on a loose ball.
Freeman and Mitchell restored their lead with a 20-yard free-kick and after Ryan Krause had levelled again, from a long throw by Hall, it was soon 5-3 with only 18 minutes left.
All looked lost for Warriors, only for three moments of late magic to reward them for their efforts. First, Hall delivered an excellent cross that Galloway headed in at the far post. Next, goalkeeper Adam Treece pulled off an incredible double save at the other end to keep his side in contention.
And then, in the very last minute, another long throw by Hall was met at the near post by Jeremy Moran, who outjumped the home defence to score with a perfectly placed header. Phew!
