Arguably the biggest giantkilling feat of last weekend’s FA Cup, First Round, had faithful Hucknall Town fans pining for the club’s glorious recent past.
For Worcester City, who stunned the 1987 Cup winners Coventry City, beating them 2-1 at The Ricoh Arena, were regular opponents for Town in their Conference North days.
In fact, it is only seven years since that The Yellows whacked Worcester 5-0 at Watnall Road on Tuesday 23rd October 2007, thanks to two goals from Danny Mayman and one apiece from Danny Bacon, Ben Saunders and James Cullingworth.
Town also won the return game 1-0 the following February in what was the last of eight clashes between the two clubs from 2004 to 2008. The Yellows won four, Worcester three and one was drawn.
After their exploits at Coventry, Worcester have been handed another away tie in Round Two -- at Scunthorpe United.
