The Price was right for LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES, who seem to be back on track again in the Notts Senior League’s First Division.
For striker Luke Price scored the only goal of a good win for Linby at home to Gedling Southbank, which backed up the previous week’s local-derby stroll against HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES.
Southbank might be struggling towards the wrong end of the table, but they are, after all, a first team, so Linby did well to create a hatful of chances against them.
Price netted in the second half, but he and fellow striker Reece Jackson were denied on several other occasions by visiting ‘keeper Nick Day.
LINBY RESERVES LINE-UP (4-4-2) -- Guyatt/ Austin, O’Neill, Falconer, Dickens/ Cheeseman, Murray, Potter (man-of-match), Wallis/ Jackson R., Price. Subs: Prewett (for Dickens 60), Miller (for Jackson 70).
Meanwhile Rolls Reserves recovered from their derby drubbing to post a routine 2-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Nottinghamshire.
However, they made hard work of it against a side yet to pick up a single point in 12 league matches.
First-half injuries to Gaz Hayes and Danny Gamble meant that joint manager Graeme Wright had to reshuffle his pack. And Rolls were held in a deadlocked opening hour.
However, they finally edged ahead when teenage substitute Tremere Lindo finished well in the bottom corner after a neat one-two.
More chances went begging until another promising youngster, Connor Whiles, made the game safe ten minutes from the end with a close-range tap-in after good work by Sam Woodings.
At least Rolls looked comfortable at the back, where Danny Yeates and Ashley Dove put in solid performances.
HUCKNALL ROLLS RESERVES LINE-UP (4-4-2) -- Thompson M./ Davis, Dove, Gibson, Yeates/ Hayes G., Whiles C., Wright J., Edwards/ Gamble, Rick. Subs: Woodings, Brown, Lindo.
