The extraordinary goalscoring run of striker Luke Price enabled LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES to launch their defence of the Notts Senior League’s Junior Cup in style.

Linby lifted what was the club’s first trophy for 17 years amid memorable scenes last May. And they are gunning for a repeat judging by the way they disposed of First Division rivals Southwell City Reserves in the Second Round (last 16).

Linby triumphed 5-2, with Price netting his THIRD hat-trick on the spin. In fact, he scored four of his side’s goals to take his tally to ten in three games.

Price opened the scoring in the 28th minute and after Adam Allsopp had equalised for the visitors, the prolific hitman restored the locals’ lead before the interval.

In the second half, man-of-the-match Price added two more, both one-on-ones, to make it 22 already for the season. And although Liam Gleeson cut the deficit to 4-2 for Southwell, Linby had the last word with a fifth from substitute Darren Dickens.
