Three more wins inside six days complete one milestone and edged closer to another for Notts Senior League champions BULWELL.

The Bulls beat Burton Joyce 5-1 last midweek before following up with a 2-0 success at Attenborough last Saturday.

And when they licked Selston 5-3 on Monday night, it took their tally of league goals in a remarkable season to exactly 100.

Now, if they win their final three fixtures too, they will become the first team in the NSL to wrap up a season without dropping a single point.

After taking on Kimberley Miners Welfare in the league’s Senior Cup semi-finals last night (Thursday), Bulwell face Saturday trips to Awsworth Villa and Bilborough Town, which sandwich a game at Magdala Amateurs next Tuesday night.

The latest trio of wins each featured goals from Jamie Walker, including a devastating brace against Burton Joyce.

Man-of-the-match Walker opened the scoring with a magnificent effort from 30 yards that nestled in the top corner. And although slack marking enabled the visitors to level, a tap-in and a far-post header from Scott Litchfield made it 3-1 by the break.

Conor Carter netted number four two minutes into the second period before Walker smashed home another 30-yarder three minutes from time.

High-riding Attenborough provided the main threat to Bulwell’s bid for a 100% campaign. But the champions played some superb one-touch football and were ahead after only 90 seconds when Ryan Perkins lofted the ball over the ‘keeper to cash in on fine work by Marek Vipond.

Vipond then rattled the bar and Litchfield headed against the inside of a post. But The Bulls had a lucky let-off before the second goal because Attenborough were awarded a dubious penalty.

Justice was done when home captain Wes Burke’s kick was brilliantly saved by ‘keeper Jamie Wheat, diving low to his right. And Bulwell sealed the points with a spot-kick of their own in the dying seconds as Walker slotted home after Allan Jeffries had forced a handball.

The Bulls had to survive one or two scares in Monday’s match with Selston, who took a shock lead and later cut their deficit from 4-1 to 4-3.

However, two goals from Josh Niblett (nine and 27 minutes), the 33rd of the season from Litchfield (38) and one apiece from Carter (44) andWalker (77) made sure of the points.
