Plans by BULWELL to launch a bid for the Central Midlands League, South Division title were dented by a surprise opening defeat yesterday (Saturday).
The Bulls, who finished a close third in their maiden season in the league last term, were thumped 3-0 by Derbyshire outfit Swanwick Pentrich Road.
In contrast, HUCKNALL TOWN made it back-to-back victories against smart opposition by defeating Bilborough Pelican, who finished fourth last season, 2-1 at Watnall Road. This followed Town’s heroic win away to defending champions Clifton in midweek.
Meanwhile Clifton were stunned again by Dispatch district opposition because LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE hit back from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw at Green Lane. The locals also missed a penalty.
Newly-promoted HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE were without a match yesterday -- but all four local clubs have fixtures this midweek. On Tuesday night, Linby entertain Southwell City, while Rolls travel to Real United. And on Wednesday night, Bulwell entertain Clifton, while Town are at home to Mickleover Royal British Legion.
