Bestwood take title at death

THE CHAMPAGNE corks have been popped by Bestwood Village Social Club after they secured the title in the HUCKNALL SUMMER DOMINOES LEAGUE on the last night of action.

Going into the final clashes, it was a straight shootout between Bestwood and defending champions Talk Of The Town.

Had Town won, they would have taken the title on leg-difference to retain their trophy in what would have been a remarkable feat after a dire start to the campaign when they lost several matches.

But it was Bestwood who held their nerve to capture the silverware by courtesy of a 4-1 victory at their base on Park Road in the village.

Their eventual margin of victory was four points over Town, who were tied on 20 points with George Street, who beat Station Hotel (Hucknall) B, 3-2, Royal British Legion, who beat Conny A 3-2, and Crafty Conny, who lost 3-2 to Shamrock in their final fixture.

Station PH finished rock-bottom after a 3-2 reverse against second-from-bottom Bentinck Club.
