Bulls are back at the top

BULWELL maintained their unbeaten start in the Senior Division of the Notts Senior League with a 3-0 win at Ruddington.

The Bulls soon got into their stride with some excellent passing football, and striker Scott Litchfield almost opened the scoring after only two minutes but his header was straight at the keeper.

Ryan King was unlucky on four minutes, showing his explosive pace to beat the keeper to a nothing ball, but his effort went through the side netting.

Ruddington had an excellent chance when Carver was through on goal, but his poor decision-making led to Bulls keeper Wheat going to ground to gather at the feet of the striker.

Litchfield was again on hand from a Murdock through ball, but his effort to lob the keeper went wide.

The opener came on 15 minutes when Marek Vipond rose majestically to head home.

The Bulls increased their advantage on the half-hour mark with Murdock and Carter working well, Carter finding space for an effort that was only parried and the lethal Litchfield was on hand to smash home from close range.

The Bulls were rampant and King was instrumental in most of the openings being created, and it was he who added the third seven minutes before the interval with the goal of the season so far.

He chested the ball and controlled it with such elegance, using the front of his boot to bounce the ball up, and then unleashed an overhead kick into the top corner of the net.

The home side almost halved the deficit on 43 minutes but Dave Ward was on hand to make a goal line clearance.

The second-half was dull affair with the Bulls having the lion’s share of the possession, but never really forcing any clear cut chances and the half just petered out as Bulwell went back to the top of the league.
