Cuckney get off to a winning start

Cuckney and Mansfield Hosiery Mills came up against each other in a local derby to begin the campaign.

Hosts Cuckney won the toss and invited Hosiery Mills to have first dig and they ended 141 all out, the majority of runs coming from opener Irosh Samarasooriya who hit 93.

Cuckney got the runs in the 43rd over for the loss of six wickets, Matt Wright taking three of them and James Hawley, Adam Burgess and Dan Brown joint top scorers with 29 each.

West Indian Cavaliers hosted Welbeck at Birchover Park and, batting first, were reduced to 59 for 4 before Dominic Williamson (38) joined Akhil Patel (80) to add 110 and see Cavs eventually close on 216 for 9, Tom Lungley taking 4 for 57 and Jonathan Ball 3 for 65.

Welbeck struggled into the 42nd over before being dismissed for 115. David Hunt was the lone spark of resistance, the opener making 36 as Aitizaz Khan (4 for 17) and Adam Tillcock (3 for 27) held sway.

Hucknall were given a rude welcome to the Premier League as guests Plumtree claimed the win.

Although Hucknall won the toss and invited the visitors to bat, grabbing an early wicket, they wouldn’t get the second wicket until 173 further runs were scored. Oliver Soames made 77 and Hassan Azad 100 from 97 balls. Sam Wood (50) and Joseph Tetley (30) added 62 for the fourth wicket before a late flurry saw Plumtree dismissed for 321 in the 45th over, Adam Scott claiming 5 for 68.

The home side’s reply ground to a halt in the 43rd over, Joshua Downie’s 48 the one bright spot. Sam Wood with 4 for 18 and Nicholas Winter (4 for 18) were the destroyers in chief for Plumtree.

Champions Kimberley welcomed Ordsall Bridon to the 2bm Ground where, batting first, John Terry (43) and Neil Edwards raced to an opening stand of 73. Edwards was second man out, having scored 107 from just 62 balls.

Tom Rowe would go on to add 84 for the fifth wicket with Simon Webster before he fell for 78. Webster would finish with 71 as Kimberley made their highest score in the Premier League, 374 for 8, Gary Andrews taking 4 for 75 and Mathew Roberts 3 for 63.

Bridon’s reply was in a spot of bother at 25 for 2 but Sufian Munir (34) and Liam Andrews (36) steadied things with a stand of 56 before Paul Van Den Heuvel (47) and newcomer, Logan Verjus van Beek added a further 109, van Beek finishing on 71 not out as Bridon secured a draw by closing on 233-6.

Clifton Village batted first at home to Notts Academy and made 251-9, Scott McNeill top scoring with 71. The hosts then couldn’t quite do enough for an outright win as Notts held on, Tom Moores with 63 and the last pair holding out for a draw.

Home side Radcliffe reduced Caythorpe to 16 for 3 and then 90 for 6 but they progressed to end on 185, David Lucas and Ben Savage with three wickets each. Radcliffe were then dismissed for just 110, James Hindson with 4 for 23.
