DARTS: By George! Street set the pace
GEORGE Street Club are the early-season pacesetters in the fledgling stages of the HUCKNALL MEN’S DARTS LEAGUE — weeks after the competition was on the verge of extinction.
As reported in the Dispatch, there were fears for the league’s future after the retirement of darts stalwart Les Berridge due to health problems.
After 45 influential years, Berridge called time on his administrative duties after a stroke.
Thankfully an appeal for fresh blood has been met and the season has started — albeit with a truncated roster of just six teams.
George Street have won both their opening fixtures and have the only 100% record — after a 7-1 eclipse of Yew Tree, who have no points and have only won one leg in two games.
Youngster Jack Kerr was the star of the show as he hit two scores of 100-plus and a 139 finish to help secure a 4-4 draw for Royal British Legion A against Central Social Club.
In the final match of the second week of the campaign, Green Dragon smashed Royal British Legion 7-1.
