A FOUR-GOAL blast in the first 18 minutes helped Linby to a 6-3 Notts FA Senior Cup first round victory over Radford.

This was Linby’s first appearance in the prestigious cup for five years, against a team in a League higher (the East Midland Counties League).

As early as the first minute, Damian Mann tricked his way past his full back and was brought down for a penalty.

Up stepped top scorer Matt Murphy to score.

On 12minutes, there was a Goal of the Season contender as Mann set up Murphy to crash a wonderful half-volley into the top corner from 18 yards out.

On 15 minutes, Murphy turns provider, slipping the lively Kyle McDermott in to finish with aplomb.

Amazingly it was 4-0 on 18 minutes as Mann crossed for man of the match McDermott to crash his header onto the bar. Linby’s striker was first to the rebound to gleefully head home.

Radford got back into the game in the second half when unlucky Matt Ball headed into his own net but Linby replied on 55 minutes when a 32-pass move ends with McDermott cutting the ball back to Aaron Ryan to find the top corner.

On 58 minutes, the dangerous Kevin Lusamba was brought down for a Radford penalty, but Jack Harvey saved Allen’s effort, only for Alves to be brought down while going for the loose ball. From that penalty, Harvey saved again but Allen netted the rebound.

Radford made it 5-3 through Marshall but Linby rounded things off on 87 minutes as Murphy scored his second hat-trick of the season to complete a fully deserved win

Linby line-up (4-4-2): Harvey, D.Marlow (Niblett 56), Peberday, Ball, Coupe (Dakers 70), S.Marlow (Bradshaw 49), Ryan, Winfield, Mann, McDermott, Murphy
