The 25-year-old centre-back initially joined the club on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2011.

While at Brighton, Cook had five loan spells including one with the then-Conference Stags in 2010/11, making nine appearances as a 19-year-old on his three-month loan for boss David Holdsworth and then his successor Duncan Russell.

Cook made 35 appearances for Eddie Howe’s Cherries side this term, scoring five goals.

“It was not a tough decision for me to stay. My family love it here and I love it here,” said Cook.

“The club is obviously still growing, so hopefully I can continue to be a part of that.”
