Football’s second weekend wipeout

LOCAL football is expected to resume this weekend after a second successive weather-wipeout last Saturday and Sunday.

Not a ball was kicked in a single match involving senior, youth and female teams in the Dispatch district.

The snow of the previous weekend had relented. But pitches remained unplayable because of severe frosts.

The dip in temperatures meant the quarter-finals of the Notts FA Saturday Intermediate County Cup, involving BULWELL, and the semi-finals of the Notts A Sunday Senior County Cup, involving PLOUGH BARFLIES, had to be put off until this weekend.

That in turn has now forced the postponement of scheduled Notts Senior League, Senior Cup quarter-finals on Saturday (February 18) involving Bulwell and HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE, who were due to play each other, and also LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE.
