Bulwell looked to have been saved in recent weeks after volunteers had been found to take on the running of the club from current chairman Andy Radford but a statement released this week said the parties involved have now pulled out and the club, having resigned from the Central Midlands League, would now fold.

No official confirmation has come from Hucknall Rolls Leisure regarding their current status, but the Dispatch understands they too have resigned from the Central Midlands League and will fold, with the management team of Jez Corthorn and Jonathan Wass having moved to Eastwood CFC.

The statement on Bulwell’s website read: “It is with sad regret that the proposed takeover of Bulwell FC has now been withdrawn.

“The members felt they were unable to sustain a continued stable platform with the personnel they had accrued, and added to such the club were refused the lateral movement back to the Notts Senior League by the FA leaving the club in a position they couldn’t sustain due to the pitch allocation for the forthcoming season.

“The CMFL had stated that the pitch wouldn’t be suitable for their constitution. The monies owed and further debts issued to the club were also a big factor in their decision to withdraw.

“With the club not financially able to clear the latest fines imposed due to over £500 owed, all monies owed are needed to be paid in full ASAP to avoid all players registered with the club in 2015/2016 having to pay a dividend of such.

“This leaving the outgoing chairman with no alternative but to disband the club with immediate affect.”

Bulwell were formed in 1992 and were formerly known as AC Bulwell.

Their long list of honours includes winning the Notts Amateur League Division Four, the NAL Junior Cup, NAL Division One South, NAL Senior Cup, NAL Premier Division (twice), Notts FA Junior Cup, NAL Intermediate Cup, Notts Alliance Division One, Notts Amateur Alliance Premier Division (three times), NSL Division One, NSL Senior Division (twice), NSL Senior Cup (twice) and the CMFL Phoenix Trophies Floodlit Cup (twice).

Hucknall Rolls Leisure were initially formed in 1935 before being disolved and reformed in the 1970s and once again in 2009.

The club played in the Notts Senior League during the 1990s and then the Central Midlands League both before and after its latter reformation, also reaching the first round proper of the FA Vase in 2002.
