Hucknall Town Reserves travelled to Heanor Town’s ground last Tuesday for their reserve league cup final against Pinxton.

Kicking up the slope first half Hucknall started the game very well controlling the early exchanges against a very physical Pinxton side.

The first break through came in the 13th minute when Jeremy Moran won the ball in the middle of the park and then found Macauley Spencer out on the wing, Spencer then beat his marker, cutting inside the box and finished from a tight angle to make it 1-0 to Hucknall.

The goal seemed to settle Hucknall and they took control of the game with the back four and middle three looking solid and winning their individual battles which kept Pinxton at bay with them only having one notable shot through the whole of the first half.

A couple more chances fell Hucknall’s way but they failed to find the back of the net, Spencer skying over from nine yards and Paul Stevenson shooting wide.

Just before half time Jeremy Moran had to be replaced by Aiden England after coming off the worse from a 50/50 challenge.

The second half was pretty much the same with Hucknall controlling things, but Pinxton upping their physicality to try and knock them off their stride.

Hucknall sealed the win on 65 minutes though after Spencer beat his man again down the left hand side and put a peach of a ball across to the far post, where England rose like a salmon to head home Hucknall’s second.

The remaining 20 minutes were a bit dull as Hucknall just shut up shop. Apart from an x-rated tackle on England which everybody in the ground apart from the referee thought was a red card but only yellow was produced. Aside from this tackle, the game was played in good spirits by both teams.

Hucknall team: Mike Randall, Farren Packard, Kieran Davies, Ben Jones, Mark Poyser, Paul Stevenson, Jeremy Moran, Adam Whitemore (capt) Jordan Phillips, Macauley Spencer, Toby Birch. Subs - Aiden England, David Stevenson, Romeo Mugdadza (not used), Tremere Lindo.
