A TEENAGE footballer who has honed his skills in Hucknall has landed a dream two-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

Joe Worrall (14), of Linby, will now come under the wing of former Reds defender and ex-Bulwell boy Steve Chettle, who coaches the under-15s at the City Ground.

It represents a major achievement for giant defender Joe, who stands at an imposing 6’2” tall.

Joe has played in the successful under-12s, 13s and 14s sides for Hucknall Sports in the Young Elizabethan League, winning several trophies.

He has also played for Hucknall Harrier in Sunday football and represented Nottinghamshire at county level.

Forest’s npower Championship derby rivals, Leicester City and Derby County, have also shown an interest in Joe.

But he has always had his sights set on playing for The Reds.

He is the son of Adrian and Louise Worrall, who also have a ten-year-old son, Josh, who plays for Ravenshead.

Adrian said: “Joe has worked very hard to achieve this. He has trained at Forest four nights a week and played a game most weekends to get to this position.

“He has been very committed and missed social events so he can be fresh and fit for his trials.

“As parents, we have resisted the temptation to let him join an academy at a professional club too early because he wanted to play local football with his friends and to enjoy his childhood, which he has done.”

Joe is a pupil at the National Church Of England Academy on Annesley Road, Hucknall.
