TWO Hucknall motorbike racers have picked up trophies at the East Midlands Racing Association’s annual presentation night in Hinckley
Hucknall’s Rob Collison received trophies for winning the EMRA F400 championship and also received the Dennis Trollope 400cc winners trophy and a cash prize of £250.
Collison clinched the F400 championship in the final race of the season with a strong win in wet conditions.
Andrew Gilnicz, also of Hucknall, picked up the Paul Vincent Memorial Trophy for his winning performance in March’s round three of the championship at Mallory Park,
Andrew will be the last person ever to be presented with this prestigious award and will also get to keep the trophy after Paul Vincent’s widow has said she’d like to see the category retired after this year.
Trophies were presented on the night by World Superbike rider Tom Sykes, who congratulated the riders on their achievements and spent the evening enjoying a meal and disco until late into the night.
Collison and Gilnicz now intend to progress to the 600cc championship for next season and both are keen to hear from any potential sponsors or supporters who would like to be involved in what will be a very interesting season. The championship will expand to include Darley Moor circuit near Ashbourne and Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, as well as the local Mallory Park circuit.
