Rollers waiting for final position

THE BOWLS players of ROLLS-ROYCE LEISURE are eagerly waiting to find out their final league positions after signing off from action this season with two wins and a draw.

In Division One of the Notts Midweek Federation Mixed 4x3 League, Rolls relied on two winning rinks to secure a 5-2 (67 shots to 42) success.

The backbone of the victory was supplied by Ann Taylor, Mark Foulds and Bert Wright, who came through 23-5 with the added achievement of scoring a maximum of nine shots on the 13th end, which is known as a ‘hot shot’.

Janet Adams, Keith Powell and Alan Harvey won 20-6.

The other two rinks narrowly lost as Lily Bennington, John Walker and Roy Walker went down 13-17 and the trio of Pauline Harvey, John Etches and Alan Parker were edged out 14-11.

n THERE was no stopping the Rollers in Division One of the Notts Saturday 3x3 Federation as they demolished Arnold Park 6-0.

Janet Adams, Mark Foulds and Dave Adams set the tone by scoring three fives and three fours on the way to a magnificent 39-10 cakewalk.

Ann Taylor, Lily Bennington and Alan Harvey won 30-14, while Maureen Gunn, Pauline Harvey and Geoff Gunn only lost on two of the 21 ends to win 44-6.

n IN the final match of the week, in Division Three of the Ashfield 4x2 League, Rolls lost out 13-1 (70-58) to Teversal.

Terry Simpson and Greg Umney played a superb game to draw 15 all, although Ron Clurow and Keith Powell scored on more ends than their opponents, they lost out 18-15.

It was a similar story for Mark Foulds and Stuart Newton, who lost 18-14.

Adam Wright and John Etches, who dropped a five midway through their clash, eventually lost by five, 19-14.
