Seventh spot for young karting star
Seven-year-old Ruben Hage earned a hard-fought seventh place in the latest round of the Bambino Kart Club Championship in North Wales.
He was competing at the Glan-Y-Gors circuit in his No.7 MARI Kart, in what with 23 opponents was the largest entry of racers so far this season for the penultimate round of the championship.
After eight timed sessions consisting of ten laps each, Ruben set a personal best lap time of 1 minute 1.35 seconds, just 1.54 seconds from a podium place.
His dad Richard said: “Two weeks ago we went to Glan-Y-Gors near Snowdon for the first time and Ruben spent the day testing with his fastest lap of 1 minute 2.79, so to shave a further 1.44 seconds off whilst under race conditions proves how hard Ruben was driving.
“Racing 80 Laps around the ‘Alpine-style’ circuit takes both mental and physical strength to maintain a consistent and competitive pace.”
Ruben has now moved up to ninth overall from 31 contenders in the championship standings.
With just one point separating him from his nearest rival, the last round at the Rowrah circuit in the Lake District on Saturday, October 13 will be an exciting conclusion to the year.
