It was revealed last week that the Birmingham-born player had been offered a new contract by manager Adam Murray and the deal was today completed.

The 26-year-old made 32 Sky Bet League Two starts for the Stags last season, mostly occupying a central midfield role.

“Last year I had the injuries which prevented me from playing consistently,” said Clements.

“When you have a break in play, it’s harder to get back into the rhythm of match-fitness, match sharpness. For me, it’s about playing as many games as you can without a break in play (to gain consistency over a season).

“I want to cement a place (in the team) for the season, get more goals than I did last season and help the team gain promotion.

“With the way the gaffer is doing things, we have a good chance of having a good season, bearing in mind his football philosophy.

“We have a bit of everything where we can go to different teams in this league and compete.”

The Crewe Alexandra academy graduate joined the club in 2012 from non-league side Hednesford Town after making over 100 appearances for the Pitmen.

Clements was part of the side which won promotion from the Conference in 2012/13 and has since become a mainstay of the Stags’ midfield, becoming a well-liked figure for his flamboyant range of passing and intelligence going forward.

The deal will run from July 1 and is subject to Football League approval.
