SUNDAY ACTION: T8s go goals crazy in cup

THERE was County Cup progress for Hucknall side T8s — and in some style.

For they demolished Nottingham United 14-1, with seven goals coming in each half of the Notts FA Sunday Senior Trophy clash.

Andy Start and Danny Gamble got two each in the first period, with Kyle McDermott, Stef Rogers and Danny Hayes supplying the others.

The second-half saw Start complete his hat-trick, McDermott and Hayes add to their tally and substitutes Chay Betteridge (2), Gaz Hayes and Alistair Murray round off the rout with the pick of the goals.

GREEN Dragon also progressed through at the expense of Notts Combination League Premier side Athletico T8s in the same competition.

Athletico started brightly but their attacks fizzled out before they could become meaningful.

Dragon soon settled and scored first just before half-time, as captain Kane Matthews followed up a shot and pounced on a rebound to bundle the ball home.

The second-half saw Dragon a lot more switched on and it was 2-0 when Josh Haskey created some space for himself before driving a low shto past a helpless keeper.

Jamie Taylor in goal made a couple of good stops before Jamie Brown pulled a goal back for Athletico after a counter-attack.

But Dragon soon restored the advantage, Luke Brandley and Matthews setting up Daniel Blake to find the net, with the same player adding the fourth soon afterwards.

Matt Lucas rounded off the win with his second goal of the season when he had space and the skill to to beat a defender and the keeper to create himself a straightforward chance.

THERE was a surprise at Plough Barflies, where last season’sSenior Trophy finalists were ignominiously dumped out of the competition 8-2 by Priory, with Joe Ashurst hitting both of the locals’ goals.

In the Intermediate Cup, Premiere Travel entertained league and derby rivals The Masons with William Bennett notching the only goal for Premiere in a 1-0 win.

In the Notts Sunday Morning League, Station Hotel were 2-1 winners at Loft In Space in Premier Division One, with Draycott and Bailey the goalscorers for the locals and Simpson netting for the home side.

In Senior Division Two, the Nabb Inn fought out a goalless draw with Dovecrest.
