SWIMMING: Falcon finish last in opener

A SEVERELY-depleted HUCKNALL FALCON squad limped to a disappointing last place in the opening gala of the Nottinghamshire Sports Centre League.

After finishing fourth last season, the locals will be looking for improvement in the coming rounds and to get their squad back up to full strength.

Falcon still racked up nine individual successes at Worksop with the senior captains proving their worth.

Amelia Sale recorded four wins in the 13-and-under 100m backstroke, breaststroke and individual medley and the 50m butterfly.

Boys’ skipper Callum Murray then grabbed a hat-trick in the 15-and-under 100m individual medley and freestyle and the 50m butterfly in a personal best (PB) time. He also finished second in the 15-and-under 100m backstroke.

Imogen Gould completed the wins in the open 100m butterfly and added a second in the 100m freestyle.

PB times were recorded by Harvey Green (11-and-under 50m backstroke and breaststroke), Sam Murden (13-and-under 100m backstroke), Josh Holland (15-and-under 100m breaststroke), Murray (15-and-under 100m breaststroke) and the quartet of Jake Biggs, Ellie-Marie Baker, Ryan Patel and Eve Tuckwood in the nine-and-under mixed-medley relay.

RESULT — Retford 192 points, Calverton and Bingham 182, Worksop 168, Sherwood 155, Mansfield 125, FALCON 116.
