Teen striker makes it 300 games on the spin for club

A PROLIFIC young striker has hit the incredible milestone of 300 games for the same club.

That in itself is outstanding. But when you consider the matches notched up by Liam Burley have been consecutive, without missing a single league or cup fixture, the enormity of his achievement comes into focus.

What’s more, the youngster has also bagged 176 goals in those appearances for Hucknall Warriors.

To celebrate the landmark, the passionate Notts County supporter was presented with a letter of congratulations from Magpies manager Keith Curle.

It was handed over to the teenager by former Notts striker Gary Lund, who is manager of Keyworth, who were Warriors’ opponents on the day that coincided with his 300th game.

Lund played for The Magpies between 1987 and 1990 and scored more than 60 goals in almost 250 appearances

Liam has been with Warriors throughout his career, starting off in the under-7s set-up. He is now an integral member of the under-18s team who play in the Notts Youth League where Warriors are currently second in the table.

Against Keyworth, Liam netted in a nine-goal thriller as the loacls came back from 3-0 down to win 6-3 (SEE BELOW).

Lund, who is pictured presenting Liam with his letter from Curle said of the teenager’s milestone: “In youth football this achievement is quite extraordinary. I played 350 games and Liam is approaching my record. It’s a fantastic achievement and one to be proud of.”
