Mayman quits for derby rivals Alfreton

FORMER captain Danny Mayman has completed a switch to Hucknall Town's fiercest Blue Square North rivals, Alfreton Town.

ffered a fresh deal at Watnall Road by managers Mick Galloway and Andy Miller, he made the short move to Nicky Law's Reds.

The full-back-cum-midfielder is no stranger to the Impact Arena, having spent a month on loan there from Northwich Victoria midway through the 2006/07 season.

Mayman was initially signed for Hucknall by John Ramshaw back in 1999 and spent five years at the club before linking up with ex-Yellows boss Steve Burr at Northwich in the top flight of the Conference.

He spent two-and-a-half years there before returning to Watnall Road last summer under Andy Legg.

He was made Yellows captain by former boss David Lloyd and made 40 appearances last season, scoring seven goals. He said his farewell to Town fans in a Letter to last week's Dispatch.

Mayman will not have to wait long to face his former club, given that Hucknall were handed a relegation reprieve two weeks ago.

Since then, Galloway and Miller have been busy building their squad for next term. And this week, they were boosted by the news that defender Alistair Asher (27) has agreed to stay for another season.

Asher's decision follows the arrival of two new signings – big centre-half Matt McKenzie and goalkeeper James Lindley (27), who has returned for his third spell at the club.
