NEWSTEAD Abbey Village first XI fell to a 44-run defeat at champions Keyworth as South Notts League Division C action for the season finished last Saturday.
The hosts were restricted to just 144-8 from 48 overs but Newstead could not get anywhere near in reply and they were all out for just 100 in 32.1 overs.
Dave Strong top-scored for Keyworth for whom 14-year-old Tom Newell added a useful 19 runs.
For Abbey, Danny Greenhalgh) 2-16) and Nick Hand (2-34) were the top wicket-takers.
In reply, only Naz Ali with 33 registered any serious runs for Newstead as the visiting batsmen struggled against the bowling of Andy Hiller and Dave Hiller who finished with 5-25 and 3-18 respectively.
Newstead finished in a creditable fourth place in the table.
