Mansfield Academy in Section Six become the first team to resign from the Mansfield & District League this season due to a lack of players.

Sunday’s programme was badly hit by the wet weather, but in the Premier Section Hucknall (206-7) beat Glapwell (180-4) in a match reduced to 30 overs per side after a rain-delayed start.

In Section Two Handsworth’s Adam Murray scored 56 and took 8-24 to almost single-handedly beat Creswell. Handsworth made 193 before bowling out Creswell for just 45 runs.

In a 36-over match, Whiston (194-6) had a winning draw over Blackwell (164-5). Top score with the bat went to Steffan Lomas with 71 and best bowling to Jamie Lomas (5-43), both of Blackwell.

In Section Three, Mansfield (80-5) beat Papplewick & Linby (79) by five wickets in a low-scoring game, Robin Rhodes for Mansfield the pick of the bowling with 4-17.

Wirksworth (170-4) lost to Cutthorpe (175-2) in Section Four on a day dominated by batting, Matthew Platts top-scoring for Cutthorpe with 72 not out.

In Section Five, Anston (142-5) lost to Selston (145-2) by eight wickets in a delayed start match, reduced to 34 overs per side.

Chesterfield were all out for 87 as they lost to Shirebrook (91-5) by five wickets, Connor Tansley top bowler with 5-15 for Shirebrook.

In Section Six, Clowne (182-3) got to 32 overs before their match with Belper Meadows was rained off.

In the only other match to see play, Langwith 39-3 made a brief start against Bawtry before rain stopped play at 39-3.

In Section Seven every match fell to the weather.
