CLINICAL finishing was the downfall of AFC Hucknall as they were blitzed by Bilborough Pelican in the South Division of the Central Midlands League.
Pelican scored five of their seven chances in a 5-2 win. All of their strikes stemmed from individual errors from AFC players, while the other chances were saved superbly by keeper James Beddingham.
A great save by Bilborough keeper Kamar Davis stopped AFC going ahead early on, and the hosts then latched onto a poor midfield pass and went straight through and scored.
Town were on top possession wise in between all of Bilborough’s goals, but a second following a mix up in defence destroyed all of the good football.
A third for Bilborough came from a Town corner with the ball kicked clear only to fall to Bilborough’s lively striker, who made it 3-0.
Jeremy Moran then pulled one back from 20 yards following a ball from Davis.
The second-half saw Pelican take two more chances despite Hucknall’s possession before Kyle Pemberton scored a consolation goal with a free unmarked header from a corner late on.
THE RESULT was followed up by another disappointment in midweek as AFC lost out 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller with Blackwell Miners Welfare in the League on Wednesday.
