ANGLING: Barrie has measure of Long Island Lake

A TOP-notch weight of 82lb 4oz saw Barrie Robinson storm to glory in HUCKNALL TOWN ANGLING CLUB’S latest match on the Long Island Lake at Portland Waters near Newark.

Other weights recorded were: Steve Knighton 60-8, Barry Blewitt 59-10, Craig Akin 50-6, Rob Lewis 49-14, Alan Lucas 42-0, Dave Wright 38-12, Kev Blewitt 33-0, Mick Stanley 27-8, Derek Alcock 25-2, Colin Robinson 17-8, Jimmy Craig 10-8 and Richard Charlton 9-14.

BRIAN Cross has a day to remember as he topped the weights and combined with Terry Coltart to comfortably win the annual pairs match staged by HUCKNALL ANGLERS at Oaktree Lake, Brinsley.

Cross netted a total weight of 46lb 10oz, while partner Coltart bagged 29-6 for a combined weight of exactly 76lb.

Their closest rivals were Rob Daws, who finished second individually with 33-10 and single-handedly secured second in the pairs contest after Len Gill failed to trouble the scales.

IN THEIR laest match at their Forge Mills pond at Bestwood Village, Dave Wayte beat off ten rivals with a weight of 6lb 9oz.
