ANGLING: Rivals have a Cross to bear against Brian

A BAG tipping the scales at 15lb 2oz was enough to steal the plaudits for Brian Cross in HUCKNALL ANGLERS’ latest Sunday match.

Cross outgunned second-placed Ray Pickin (9-13) to take the victory as 17 club-members tackled the Langdale Channel at Sherwood Forest Fishery in north Nottinghamshire.

Other weights recorded were: Brad Livock 9-8, Russ Tideswell 5-13, Dennis Hall 5-8, Ken Shaw 3-7, Len Gill 1-14, Pat Hall 1-12, Ernie Davis 1-11, Tom Bakewell 1-5, Rob Daws 1-0, Trev Tideswell 1-0. Five did not weigh.

This Sunday’s match is on the River Leen (8 am draw).

At the club’s latest match at Forge Mills in Bestwood Village, Dave Wayte defied pouring rain to reel in a haul weighing a total of 7lb 15oz

Other weights were: Darren Smith 6-0, Stephen Rose 4-7, Arthur Lovatt 2-2, Ray Pickin 1-3, Brian Cross 0-2.

THE STAR of the show for HUCKNALL TOWN ANGLING CLUB in their latest outing at Hackett Lakes at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham was Steve Knighton.

For he took the match with a weight of 16lb 8oz ahead of Barry Blewitt (13-6) in second spot.
