Ashfield’s answer to the Olympic Games

SPORTING enthusiasts in Hucknall are being urged to compete in Ashfield’s answer to the Olympic Games.

The Active Ashfield Games take place at Ashfield Comprehensive School in Kirkby on Saturday July 2 when teams representing Hucknall, Sutton, Kirkby and Selston take each other on in fun and friendly competitions in various sports.

Now free coaching sessions are being staged at venues in Hucknall to encourage young people and adults to make up the teams. No experience is required, so if you would like to take part, simply turn up at one of these sessions, which are being run by qualified coaches:

RACKETBALL (over-16s) at Hucknall Leisure Centre on Tuesdays (9.30 am to 11 am).

LADIES’ NETBALL (over-16s) at Hucknall National Comprehensive School on Mondays (8 pm to 9 pm) and Wednesdays (8 pm to 9.30 pm).

TAG RUGBY (boys and girls, school years three, four, five and six) at Hucknall Leisure Centre on Mondays (4 pm to 5 pm).

HOCKEY (boys and girls aged 11 to 18) at Titchfield Park on Thursdays (7 pm to 8 pm).

GYMNASTICS (boys and girls aged nine to 16) at Hucknall Leisure Centre on Saturdays (9 am to 10 am).
