Mansfield Hosiery Mills’ solid start upon their return to the Bassetlaw & District League Championship was stifled this week by being involved in the only game where play was not possible due to bad weather.

They added six points to their existing total along with opponents Worksop.

North Wheatley with Leverton took a full 20 points in their home game against Notts and Arnold Amateur.

Both sides were all out, however Wheatley’s first innings total of 154 was precisely double that of the 77 gained by the visitors, who were able to take four points only for bowing their hosts out.

Two strong bowling performances by Papplewick and Linby saw Richard Hodgkinson take 4-10, and Charlie Blatherwick an economical 3-12 with Anston bowled out for a total of 96.

Papplewick and Linby continued their fine form by taking a full 20 points by offering a reply of 99-1, this total was secured by Alex Lloyd’s knock of 39 not out and Justin Braithwaite’s score of 38 providing the only wicket for Anston.

Clipstone batted first in their away game at Thoresby, amassing 204-9.

The two highest scores of 39 by Matt Millns and 41 by Craig Brittlebank provided 80 of these runs.

The bowling of Mohammad Yasar with 3-37 and Lew Willis with 3-63 were notable contributions for Thoresby; Mohammed Yasar supported the reply with a batting performance of 34.

Neither team were able to bowl the other out, resulting in a draw with Thoresby being awarded six points following their total of 129-8, whereas Clipstone were able to take a more substantial 17 points through gaining a winning draw.

Although details are limited, the game between both Championship newcomers, Edwinstowe and Retford resulted in a Retford win.

The game between Glapwell Colliery and Kiveton Park involved a full 20 wickets being taken.

Glapwell achieved the higher score of the two and beat Kiveton by 55 runs, having achieved a total of 122. They were able to take 20 points, with Kiveton Park attaining four points.

In Division One, the game at Burma Road ended up tied. Harthill made 201-9, with Ian Briggs hitting 83, Dan Willcock taking 4-57, but managed to grab the final Blidworth CW wicket just as it looked as if they would be beaten, Wayne Mitchell top-scoring for them with 53.

Caythorpe II made 193-5 before dismissing Mansfield for 118 for a 75-run victory.

At Clumber Park Dave Watson (49) and Sam Malpass (37) provided the spine of Killamarsh’s 158-8 total.

Then Aaron Green (4-32) and Manny Mudhar (6-34) set about Clumber with relish, having them all out for just 88, David Beard their only resistance with 42.
