SHELLSHOCKED ROLLS-ROYCE LEISURE, of Hucknall, bowed out of two more cup competitions in their worst week of woe since the new season began.

Hot on the heels of their exit from the prestigious Steel Trophy the previous week, Rolls lost in the Notts EBA Mixed League’s Knockout Cup and also in the Glover Trophy.

The mixed team lost by 75 shots to 59 to Wollaton B, despite a 22-13 victory for Lily Bennington, John Etches and Dave Breedon.

Maureen Gunn, Ron Clurow and Geoff Gunn lost 22-11, Pauline Harvey, Alan Harvey and Bert Wright were beaten 24-14 and Ann Taylor, Mark Foulds and Alan Parker fell 16-12, even though they fought back from 8-3 down.

The Glover Trophy reverse was a narrow 73-70 defeat at the hands of Selston. In the singles, Roy Walker won 21-19 after a 15-5 lead evaporated and he was pegged back to 17-17, while in the trips, Maureen Gunn, John Etches and Bert Wright scored 12 shots on the last four ends to triumph 23-16.

However, Ann Taylor and Alan Parker were beaten 23-19 in the pairs, despite a recovery from 17-5 down, and a 15-7 defeat for the rink of Lily Bennington, Ron Clurow, Geoff Gunn and Dave Breedon cost Rolls dear.

A COUPLE of convincing 6-0 whitewash wins, against Daybrook and Nottingham Proprietary, improved the mood at the club.

Rolls demolished Daybrook by 65 shots to 31 in the First Division of the Notts EBA Open 3X4 League after wins on all three rinks.

Geoff Gunn, Ron Clurow, Alan Harvey and Alan Parker scored a seven en route to a 23-7 success.

Maureen Gunn, Adam Wright, Roy Walker and Dave Breedon bagged two fours and three threes in a 25-13 victory.

And Janet Adams, Greg Umney, Bert Wright and Dave Adams eased home 17-11.

Proprietary were pummelled by 84 shots to 38 in Division One of the Notts Saturday 3X3 Federation.

Rose Hobbs, John Walker and Alan Parker only just squeezed home, 18-17, after winning on 11 of the 21 ends. But Ann Taylor, Geoff Gunn and Alan Harvey romped in 33-10 and Maureen Gunn, Pauline Harvey and Roy Walker 33-11.

LOCAL-derby honours went to BESTWOOD when Rolls took them on in Division One of the Notts 3X3 Federation.

The Rollers lost 5-1 (56 shots to 46), even though Maureen Gunn, Terry Simpson and Geoff Gunn snatched a three on the last end to win 14-12.

The other two rinks were beaten as Adam Wright, Greg Umney and Alan Harvey fell 22-21, despite rallying bravely from 11-1 down after only five ends, and Lily Bennington, Keith Powell and John Etches went down 22-11.
