JUBILANT Rolls-Royce Leisure ended a terrific bowls season by completing a hat-trick of championship titles.
Having already been crowned the Notts EBA Open League’s First Division champions, the Hucknall club also topped the First Divisions of the Notts Midweek Mixed Federation and the Notts Saturday 3X3 Federation.
The closely-fought midweek mixed league was clinched when Rolls’s closest rivals, Ruddington, lost their final fixture, leaving the locals top.
The Saturday league was clinched by victories in the last two matches, leaving Rolls 12 points in front.
Fittingly, the success was completed by a 5-1 (67 shots to 44) win over TRW, who had led the table for most of the campaign.
The only losing rink was that of Maureen Gunn, Geoff Gunn and Bert Wright — and even they were pipped by just one shot (18-17).
Ann Taylor, Stuart Newton and Alan Parker scored a five on the last end to win 19-15, while Ron Clurow, Mark Foulds and Dave Adams bagged a five and two fours to romp home 31-10, scoring on 16 of the 21 ends.
It was also 5-1 in Rolls’s penultimate game of the season against Nuthall Northern, who were defeated by 64 shots to 40.
Remarkably, two of the rinks were drawn as Geoff Gunn, Adam Wright and Roy Walker finished 17-17 and Maureen Gunn, John Etches and Alan Parker 16-16.
But one outstanding rink made all the difference as Janet Adams, Mark Foulds and Dave Adams won on 16 of the 21 ends to ease home 31-7.
