Mansfield Triathlon Club’s Jordan Boam proudly took his place on the podium after winning bronze in his age group at the 2015 ETU Duathlon European Championships, completing the race in just 2:24:31.
The event took place in a cold and wet Alcobendas, near Madrid, in Spain and comprised of a 10k run, 40k bike and a 5k run to finish.
Jordan qualified for the event at the Dambuster Duathlon at Rutland Water in Leicestershire in 2014 and by finishing within the top three at Alcobendas, he receives an automatic pre-qualification place for the European Championships in 2016.
April also saw Mansfield Triathlon member Seamus Allison competing for his home country, Ireland, at the 2015 Horst ETU Powerman Long Distance European Championships.
The event took place at Horst aan de Maas in the Netherlands and Seamus completed the 10k run, 60k bike and 10k run in 3:19:50.
Three members of the club successfully completed the Virgin London Marathon.
Long standing member, Anton Newell finished in 3:33:34, while husband and wife members Nigel and Sally Paylor 3:17:12 and 4:18:58 respectively.
The racing season commenced for the juniors with the first race in the East Midlands Junior Series held at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire.
Following a beautiful week of sunshine, the weather unfortunately turned.
However 17 junior members, a number racing in their first multisport event, endured the wind and rain and brought home valuable points for themselves and the club.
Last year saw five of the club’s juniors picking up podium places within the overall series to round off the Mansfield Triathlon’s best ever season of racing.
The East Midlands Junior Series consists of eight races held across the region between April and September.
